AN ELECTRONICS giant has snapped up a key site in Maroochydore ahead of a much-anticipated relocation.
Jaycar Electronics will shift from its current Aerodrome Road site to a high-visibility new location on the corner of Sugar Road and Trinder Avenue.
Close to the new Maroochydore CBD, the new site is about 50 per cent larger than the existing store and will allow for a greater range of products to be displayed as well as a more modern shopping experience for customers.
Jaycar Electronics Group property manager Tim Johnston said they were aiming to open on February 10.
He said the existing store was getting "a bit small” with more than 7000 products available, and the greater visibility was a drawcard for the new premises.
After a decade in business on the Coast Mr Johnston said Jaycar was still performing strongly in the region.
Stock will be take about 2-3 weeks to move to the new site and point of sale equipment will be left until last to shift into the new store.
A DIY hobbyist electronics store, Jaycar stocks a range of items, from computer and IT products to car electronics, Hi-Fi and TV connections, power suppliers for laptops and mobile phones, plugs, cables and more.
The remote control cars and quadcopters were also popular among young electronics enthusiasts.
