This Christmas holiday option is filling fast

QUEENSLANDERS are heading bush for Christmas with more than 20,000 already booked into national parks and state forest camping areas across the state.

Site-specific camping areas at Bribie, Moreton and Fraser Islands and Cooloola were already close to full.

However the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service said opportunities remained close to the Sunshine Coast at Inskip Point.

Environment Minister Leeanne Enoch said that if they had not done so already, holidaymakers should jump online and book now to avoid disappointment ahead of the Christmas-New Year break.

"Queensland boasts some of the most spectacular national parks in the country, so it's no wonder camping in these areas is a popular way for families and friends to enjoy the festive season,” Ms Enoch said.

Bookings can be made at qld.gov.au/camping and require camping within designated.

Cooloola, Moreton Island, Bribie Island and Fraser Island also require a vehicle permit.
